Video visits

One of our telehealth offerings is called Video Visit. This kind of virtual care lets you complete a face-to-face visit with your doctor using a camera-enabled device.

Who will treat me?

This virtual doctor visit is just like a traditional office visit where you choose which doctor you will see. This telemedicine visit could be with your established doctor, or a new doctor or a Baylor Scott & White Health provider on call.

How to schedule a video visit:

You can schedule a video visit directly through MyBSWHealth, or you can call your doctor to determine if a video visit is right for you. To schedule an online doctor appointment video visit in MyBSWHealth, select Video Visit from the home screen and follow the prompts to complete the virtual doctor booking process.

Estimated cost:

Varies by insurance

What can be treated at a telemedicine video visit?

  • Stomach concerns
  • Acid reflux
  • Common female problems

Digital Evaluation & Management (Digital E&M)

One of our telehealth offerings, messaging with your provider, is available through MyBSWHealth. This type of digital care lets you message your provider with non-urgent medical questions and needs, and allows your care team and provider will reply back within 2 business days or less. No appointment required.

Remember too that not all messages to your provider will require their clinical intervention and will not result in a billable digital encounter. If you are messaging about care needed and your provider determines that they need a live conversation via an appointment, they may recommend scheduling a Video Visit.

  • Who will treat me?

This digital visit is like a traditional office visit or video visit without the scheduled appointment time. You choose when to message your non-urgent medical questions. Your provider may request more information before they supply any clinical recommendations, when necessary.

  • How to request this type of care?

Use the MyBSWHealth patient portal to message your provider directly. This can be done on the MyBSWHealth mobile App or Website. You may even attach Photos or Documents, like home blood pressure logs, to the message for your provider.

  • Estimated cost:

Varies by insurance. Estimates may be provided by the clinic.

  • What can be treated via a message thread with my provider?

Non-urgent medical conditions only. All other clinical care questions should be addressed via [eVisit], [Video Visit] (same as above), or Office Visit.

Some common issues treated via MyBSWHealth messaging with your provider are:

    • COVID-19
    • Sinus Infections / Upper Respiratory Infection
    • Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
    • Hypertension / High Blood Pressure
    • Generalized Anxiety
    • Cough
    • Medication Management
    • Acne
    • Rash

Virtual transition to home

Being in the hospital is a tough burden for anyone, and being discharged is exciting, but can also be somewhat scary. We are making that transition easier with a virtual team to help you bridge your care from hospital to home.

The Virtual Transitions team will connect with certain hospitalized patients as they transition home, but before they have an appointment with their regular provider, hopefully to avoid any issues that might result in a return to the hospital.

  • While you are in the hospital your medical team will introduce you to the program, and if appropriate, place a referral for a virtual video appointment. If not already done, prior to discharge, you will be contacted by the virtual transition team to schedule that first appointment, which you can do through the MyBSWHealth app or a text to your smart phone. You are able to do your virtual appointment from the comfort of your own home. This visit allows you to go over any concerns you or your care circle might have since your discharge.
    • Check that you have the correct medications – correct dosages – anything new or discontinued?
    • Identify and close potential resource gaps.
    • Provide guidance once you are home about how your recovery is progressing and discuss options for new or worsening symptoms.

If you have additional questions, please ask your care team before discharge.
